PRESIDENTIAL UNIT CITATION

ESTABLISHING AUTHORITY

The Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation was established by Presidential Decree in 1950 issued by President Singman Rhee.

ACCEPTANCE BY THE UNITED STATES

The Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation was accepted in accordance with Public Law 83-354, which authorized the acceptance and wear of foreign decorations, medals, and awards in connection with services rendered in Korea between June 27, 1950 and July 27, 1955

EFFECTIVE DATES

The Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation has been in effect since 1950.

CRITERIA

The Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation was awarded to units of the Armed Forces of the United States that displayed great gallantry under extremely hazardous conditions during the Korean War.

DESCRIPTION

The Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation is a ribbon bar consisting of a broad white band in the center. The ribbon is edged in green, followed (inward) by white, red, white, and green pinstripes. In the center of the ribbon is a taeguk, with the red superior. The ribbon is enclosed within a gilt frame decorated with palm leaves.
